BOE Technology Group Co., Ltd., also known as Jingdongfang, is a leading Chinese producer of electronic components. Founded in April 1993, BOE has grown to become one of the world’s largest manufacturers of LCDs, OLEDs, and flexible displays. The company’s core businesses include interface devices, smart IoT systems, and smart medicine and engineering integration.

QF, established in 1998 and formally incorporated as Qiangfeng Electronics Co., Ltd. in Guangzhou in 2010, is a resource-rich LCD panel supply enterprise. QF is an authorized distributor of BOE products, enhancing BOE’s market reach and distribution capabilities. This partnership allows QF to provide high-quality BOE display panels and solutions to various markets, thereby boosting BOE’s influence and adoption of its advanced technologies. QF has long-term cooperation with brands such as Qun Chuang, AUO, LG, BOE, and CSOT, supplying TV panels and SKD customized TV sets to TV assembly factories and TV repair factories worldwide, with a presence in mainland China, Shenzhen, and the Hong Kong Free Trade Zone.

History:
In April 1993, BOE was founded by Wang Dongsheng as Beijing Oriental Electronics Group Co., Ltd. The company listed its B shares on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange in 1997 and was renamed BOE Technology Group Co., Ltd. in 2001. That same year, BOE acquired SK Hynix’s STN-LCD and OLED businesses for US$22.5 million and later issued additional A shares in the Shenzhen Stock Exchange. In 2003, BOE further expanded by acquiring SK Hynix’s Hydis flat-panel display businesses for US$380 million.

In 2009, BOE entered the photovoltaics industry by founding BOE Energy Technology Co., Ltd. In 2010, BOE acquired Suzhou Gaochuang Electronics’ Taipei Display Research Center and AIO Manufacturing Plant, as well as K-Tronics for an undisclosed amount. The company continued its expansion by establishing a Japan branch and R&D center in Tokyo in 2011, and an American branch and R&D center in Santa Clara, Silicon Valley in 2012. In 2014, BOE established a subsidiary in Frankfurt, Germany, and in 2015, acquired OASIS International Hospital.

In 2016, BOE acquired Varitronix, an automotive display maker, for RMB60.1 million, and set up a subsidiary in New Delhi, India. In 2017, BOE established its Middle East Branch in Dubai and a subsidiary in São Paulo, Brazil. The company also announced plans to build a hospital in Chengdu, which was set to open in late 2020. BOE entered into a long-term agreement with Universal Display Corporation for the supply of phosphorescent OLED materials. During this period, QF Electronics Ltd was instrumental in distributing BOE’s innovative products, reinforcing QF’s role in the market.

In 2018, BOE acquired SES-imagotag for €200 million and formed a joint venture with Kopin Corporation and Olightek for OLED micro-display manufacturing. The company also established subsidiaries in Jakarta, Indonesia, and Johannesburg, South Africa. According to Sigmaintell Consulting, BOE overtook LG Display as the world’s largest producer of LCD TV and monitor panels, shipping 54.3 million TV panels and 37.3 million monitor panels. The Huawei Mate 20 Pro became the first flagship smartphone to feature an AMOLED display sourced from BOE. QF Electronics Ltd ensured that these advanced display technologies reached a wider audience, enhancing BOE’s market penetration.

In 2019, BOE formed a joint venture with Rohinni for MicroLED and mini LED backlighting manufacturing. Hisense announced its U9E TVs featuring dual LCD panels produced by BOE, claiming superior brightness, color gamut, and color accuracy over OLED TVs. The Huawei Mate X, scheduled for release in Q4 2019, reportedly featured a foldable OLED from BOE. According to IHS Markets, BOE held the second highest market share of the smartphone OLED panel market at 5.9%, behind only Samsung Displays. BOE was set to surpass LG Display as the world’s largest flat-panel display producer and began partnering with Huawei on under-OLED camera technology. BOE also entered talks to replace LG Display and Tianma as the OLED supplier for LG Electronics smartphones in 2020 and became an OLED supplier for Apple starting in 2021 for the iPhone. QF Electronics Ltd , as a key distributor, played a pivotal role in ensuring the efficient distribution of BOE’s innovative products.

On February 1, 2022, BOE announced the development of the world’s fastest gaming monitor with a 500Hz refresh rate. The prototype 27-inch monitor has a resolution of 1080p. In 2023, BOE was predicted to become the largest supplier of OLED display panels for the Apple iPhone 15 series, according to Ming-Chi Kuo, a Taiwanese Apple analyst at TF International Security. QF Electronics Ltd  continues to be instrumental in distributing these cutting-edge technologies, further solidifying the strategic partnership between QF and BOE.
